KIRK UK played a major role in the Severn Trent e5 Project Programme in AMP5 with the completion of a new sludge treatment works in Telford.
KIRK UK, part of KIRK GROUP, was chosen by the e5 Consortium as one of their key delivery partners for Severn Trent’s Anaerobic Digestion Upgrade and Improvement Programme in AMP5.
The Rushmoor Growth Project consist of three sites that were chosen for the upgrades to provide additional capacity to meet a predicted increase of 53% in load due to new housing and new diary in the region.
KIRK designed, supplied and constructed two Gas Phase Digesters complete with stainless steel roofs and one Pre-Digestion Tank with a conical GRP roof. The three tanks were manufactured from Epoxy Coated Steel , a long lasting tank coating innovation with maximum corrosion and weather resistance, perfect for the project requirements.
The project also included access steelwork with a multi flight staircase designed and constructed by our in-house team. The staircase leads to an overhead bridge spanning the entire diameter of both gas phase digesters and access to the centre of the roof is possible via a 900mm wide walkway and a 4m diameter central access platform.
The digester tanks now in place will provide the extra sludge capacity required to meet the site demands and the plant will be capable of generating renewable energy from the gas produced from the digested sludge.
KIRK has worked closely with e5 since the beginning of the programme to clearly identify the design criteria, scope and key interfaces to ensure a clearly defined and specified scope could be effectively delivered on time and on budget whilst meeting the design life and performance expectations.
